electrifying silence
WRITTEN BY AMANDA KAY
the linger of electricity remains in
the air, an electrical storm//ghosts of the landline hides in
our mistakes//do you feel the spark,
inflammatory grace, resting your head
upon stone-cold ground, warehouse blues//
I remember so long ago the static of your
hand in the night, the volume of capacitance
that resides in our bones//when we were 15,
I think I lost you to the storm, electrifying silence.
Amanda is a current sophomore at Santa Clara High School in the class of '22. She loves reading and writing, preferring to write in shorter mediums such as poetry and flash fiction. When she isn't procrastinating, you'll probably find her writing, but if she is, you'll find her watching medical shows on Netflix. Amanda has been recognized by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
